Popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele Bello has given reason she held a party at her house despite the government ban on social gathering as a result of coronavirus.

Nigerians on Sunday called for the arrest of the Yoruba popular actress and her husband, Abdul Rasheed Bello, better known as JJC Skillz for disobeying the State and the Federal government orders

The actress had on Saturday hosted an in-house party in celebration of JJC Skillz’s birthday. The party was crowded with popular faces such as Naira Marley and Eniola Badmus in attendance.

Funke Akindele in a short video on her Instagram page stated that “I have seen all the messages on the social media and I must say, I will not intentionally mislead people. Which is why I want to explain what happened yesterday.

She explained that “Truly yesterday was my husband’s birthday and both of us run a studio which is located in Amen Estate where we live. We have interior, exterior, we build sets there, roads, markets and that is where we shoot Jenifer’s Dairy.

“So before the Pandemic, we all worked together here. We have the strength of 100 workers, but not all 100 are here now. So when the Pandemic started, we had to stop production, including Omo Ghetto the Saga, which is our new projects.

“But before the lockdown was announced by our President, some youths have been in booth camp here in Amen Estates, majority of them are those you saw in the videos. So when the lockdown was announced, some of the staff live outside Lagos, not all of them and they can’t go back. So they had to stay back.

“Naira Marley is part of the project, Omo Ghetto the Saga, that is supposed to be a surprise, but I have to spill it now. Please note, am not defending myself, I understand your concerns. So Naira Marley came in here, before the lockdown. So when the lockdown was announced by Mr President, he said he will love to stay back, he said he loves the environment, let’s keep working on the soundbites. I said okay. Then my husband birthday came up and we all came together as a family.

“But putting it on the social media is where we all feel bad. I so much support the government on all the work been done to eradicate the pandemic. I am sorry if I misled you with the video. I appreciate your concern. I promise to always practice what I preach, not disguise.

“I am sorry once again, I appreciate the love and I promise to always support the government in creating more awareness to eradicate this pandemic”.
